        Battery products (Battery)

        Australia

The Australian Consumer Council ACCC announced that button batteries will be included in the mandatory standard products.

The Australian government has introduced four mandatory standards to reduce the risk of death and injury associated with the use of buttons and button batteries. These standards apply to button batteries and products containing them. The new standard was launched on December 21, 2020, with an 18-month transition period, and will become mandatory on June 22, 2022.

        Information technology/audio/video/communication products (ITE/AV/Telecom)

        South Korea

Since KC 62368-1 was released on August 27, 2021, the Korean certification agency has accepted project applications, and MoU only accepts CB transfers of IEC 62368-1: 2018 (third edition).

Before December 31, 2022, during the transition period, IEC 60065 and IEC 60950-1 can still be used to apply for KC 60065 and K 60950-1 certificates. However, from January 1, 2023, the KC 60065 and K 60950-1 standards are invalid; only KC 62368-1 transfer certificates are accepted.

The KC certificate of the old standard will continue to be valid without any changes on the premise of the product.

If there is a change in the product, the product change assessment can be carried out according to the old standard before January 1, 2023 without changing the standard. However, starting from January 1, 2023, it is necessary to evaluate product changes and update the standards in accordance with the requirements of the new KC 62368-1 standard.

After the old standard certificate is upgraded to the KC 62368-1 standard, whether the original KC certificate number can be retained is still under discussion by the issuing authority.

        Saudi Arabia

        CITC recent updates:

        1. Electrical safety standard EN62368-1 has become a mandatory standard.

        2. ICT equipment needs to embed CITC electronic labels in its software as a compliance certificate; electronic labels should be affixed with the type approval certificate number (TA xxxx-y).

        Thailand

TISI announced the cancellation of TIS 1195-2561 (Audio, Video and Similar Electronic Equipment-Safety Requirements) with the original effective date of August 28, 2021. TISI will later announce the use of TIS 62368 Book 1-2563 to standardize 20 audio, video, information and communication technology products as an alternative standard to TIS 1195-2536. However, the release time of TIS 62368 Book 1-2563 is currently unknown and needs to be wait.

        Kuwait

CITRA has issued new regulations for type approval (Arabic only). Main changes:

        1. The validity period of the approval is increased from 1 year to 3 years

        2. In the case of an update, the approval ID remains unchanged

        3. Application for renewal can only start 3 months before expiration, but not more than 20 days after expiration. If the application is not received within these limits, the certificate will be cancelled.

There is no transition period for this new rule.

        Chile

On July 27, 2021, Chile SUBTEL updated Resolución 1985 Exenta, which is a technical standard for short-distance equipment.
