        Author:中認聯科 time:2024-05-16 Ctr:1551

        On April 17th, 2024, the National Telecommunication Bureau of Brazil (ANATEL) issued a new version of the test standard Act 5155/2024 for mobile phone chargers, and at the same time abolished Act 5159 issued in 2022, and another version of the old regulation Act 3481/2019 will be revoked on October 14th, 2024. The new version of Act 5155 will take effect from now on and will be enforced after October 14, 2024.

        The main changes of the new regulations are as follows

        Add 3.1.12 reference standard ABNT NBR IEC 60068-2-31: 2022: Environmental Tests-Part 2-31;

        Add chapter 3.1.13 ANATEL to identify the security seal process for mobile phone batteries and chargers;

        In chapter 6.1.1.2, the electrostatic discharge level is simplified to 6kV for contact discharge and 8kV for air discharge, and the requirements of 2kV and 4kV for contact discharge and 4 kV and 6 kV for air discharge are cancelled.

        Chapter 6.1.2.1 removed the requirement of pulse 2b;

        Chapter 7.2.1, for the electrical safety test of wall plug, added the requirement of 22 minimum samples;

        Section 7.2.2, which requires the assessment of overheating protection and the assessment of electric shock protection under normal and overvoltage conditions for one sample;

        Section 7.2.5, starting from January 1, 2025, the pin of mobile phone charger shall meet the requirements of Brazilian local standards ABNT NBR NM 60884-1/2010 and ABNT NBR 14136/2012;

        Section 7.2.6 is added, which describes in detail the requirements for the state test of the charger under normal use conditions, including mechanical strength, electrical and thermal stress. It is required to conduct 1000 plug-in and plug-out safety assessments on the charger socket at the frequency of 30 position changes per minute, as well as 2000V withstand voltage assessment for 1 minute, and no current leakage is required;

        Chapter 7.2.7 is added, which supplements the test sample of charger mechanical strength evaluation including dropping, impact, squeezing, dragging and scraping.

        Warm tips

        The implementation of the new regulations will affect all mobile phone chargers sold in the Brazilian market. After October 14, 2024, all new chargers applying for ANATEL certification and renewal are required to be evaluated according to the new regulation Act 5155. ZRLK suggested that relevant enterprises should pay close attention to the regulations in time to ensure that the products meet the requirements of the new regulations, so as to pass the certification of ANATEL and legally sell in the Brazilian market.
